Team St A-wesome celebrates

We’ve had an incredible start to 2022!

Once we got through holidays, we got to celebrate ourselves, we had a fantastic meal in the Anacacho Ballroom and an exciting awards presentation with superlatives for each department followed by casino night! An amazing time was had by all.  We recognized 2 great leaders as Manager of the Year for 2021. We realize that our organization wouldn’t be nearly as successful without the efforts of our amazing employees who work extremely hard at their craft and make us proud every day.  That’s why we wanted to celebrate some of our employees who have gone above and beyond to serve their guests, make those around them better. We had lots of great raffles and prizes for our casino high rollers.

Debbie Gonzalez

Debbie is an incredible optimist filled with charisma and charm. It’s rare to find a place where she does not already have a friend – and if she doesn’t have one, she’ll make one before she leaves. She’s been part of the St. Anthony family since 1991 and was the guiding force behind the writing of our history book. She is an amazing fountain of knowledge about the hotel and the people who have celebrated some of their most memorable moments within our halls.  Today she’s a sales manager that not only closes business but is the first to help with everything from History Tours to plating up and stripping rooms. Originally from New Braunfels, she’s our resident expert on Wurstfest and is the daughter of Wurstfest Royalty. She is someone so delightful and capable, we know you’ll agree she’s deserving of the recognition!

Will Peniche

Will joined our team late in 2020 as assistant Director of Food and Beverage.  He made an immediate impact and helped our team grow revenues and guest satisfaction scores.  He’s also been instrumental in the development of so many amazing activations for our guests.  He books great live entertainment, plans fantastic, elegant events from Dia De Los Muertos to Derby parties that are the talk of the town.   He loves working at a place he feels proud being part of a great team of hospitality professionals.  He started in the industry as a bartender while he got his PR degree and realized he really loved hospitality and has kept going because he feels there’s no typical day and every day brings new challenges and opportunities. He says “I'm a firm believer that working in hospitality, hotels are the way to go.  I can't think of any other type of business where you can work in so many different areas and grow your career in so many ways.”

Congratulations to our other honorees for the year:

Spring is a favorite time of year for our associates.  We’re busy, it’s sometimes exhausting but so much fun.  Watch for another post with some of the great things we’ve gotten to do!
